Description

Javier is a gentle, affectionate, and tactile dog who thrives on human connection. He is eager to learn and has already mastered numerous commands, including stay, go, come, heel, don’t pull, wait, place, sit, down, drop it, off, this way, cross, and the universal favorite, “NO”, as well as the praise marker “yes.”

He gets along wonderfully with other dogs, being a very communicative and ritualistic pup. While sometimes shy with new people, he tends to warm up quicker to women. Due to his strong hunting instincts, he cannot live with cats. Javier also behaves well during car rides.

Behavioral Challenges:
Javier struggles with separation anxiety. He cannot be left alone, as he whines, may have indoor accidents, and can chew on items out of stress. However, when his owner is present, he consistently does his business outside.

Current Situation:
Javier is currently living with a foster volunteer, where he is receiving ongoing training and support to help him become a well-rounded companion.

Ideal Home:
Javier needs patient, kind owners who are willing to work with a canine behaviorist to address his separation anxiety. A home with a spacious yard would be ideal, as his breed requires plenty of exercise and running opportunities. Only positive reinforcement methods should be used—no aversive training techniques. Walks on a harness and long leash are a must for his comfort and safety.
